The Engineering department is part of the Down town Group of Institutions. The down town group of Institutions started in 2010 after getting permission for integrated campus from All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E), New Delhi. The institutions comprises of Institute of Engineering, Institute of Pharmacy and Institute of Management.

The first session of the Engineering Institute commenced on August 2010, in the following disciplines leading to the B. Tech degree.

• Mechanical Engineering (ME)
• Civil Engineering (C E)
• Computer Science & Engineering (CS & E)
• Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE)

The new massive ultra modern buildings that house the down town Group of Institutions (dtGI) is elegantly designed and constructed taking utmost care to see that these blend beautifully with the wonderful natural scenic beauty of the surrounding hills. Its laboratories are equipped with large number of modern state of the art equipments and instruments to help the students to be trained in all the practical aspects of engineering education. Computer laboratories of down town Group of Institutions house a large number of latest computers with internet facilities. The library houses a large number of engineering and other related books and journals for the benefit of its students.

Although, the first batch is only graduating in 2014, the university has already created a Training and Placement Cell with an experienced Training and Placement Officer to help, plan and execute training and placement activities of the Institute. The Institute has already signed memorandum of understanding (M.O.U) with outside agencies like ASPIRE Group, Gurgaon. These agencies offer various additional employment enhancement programs like PRO Hire and IT PRO. The objective of the activities is to enable the student to be "job ready" and also "job confident" not only for the interviews but also to adapt and excel in the work environment.
